Historic Residence on San Francisco Bay
I included this picture because, as I write the website, we are redoing the floors for the first time in 30 years. They are rarely seen without furniture. There is nothing like these decks anywhere in American and they have never looked so good.
The main decking is from virgin douglas fir, logged outside Portland in 1886. When we refloated the ferry in 1988, we cleared out the tar and oakum that was between the cracks and inlaid the fir with teak splines. It provides a beautiful finish and also keeps the red wine from spilling through to down below.
